Elysian Echopulse - VR Music Game Design

Elysian Echopulse is a memorial VR music game honoring Zheng Linghua,. Her story gained attention after a viral video of her and her grandfather in an ICU unwrapping her graduate school acceptance letter. Despite her kindness and passion for music, dance, and art, she became a victim of cyberbullying due to her pink hair, tragically ending her life. Before passing, she expressed hope that her death would raise awareness about cyberbullying and platform accountability. This game uses immersive storytelling to help players empathize with the pain of cyberbullying victims.

The game follows her life in four chapters: Childhood, Turning Point (Cyberbullying), Fight Back, and Helplessness, conveyed through lyrics, environment, and gameplay. Players use the left controller to catch pink balls (positivity) and the right to destroy black balls (negativity), with mechanics like dodging rolling stones and dual-target tasks. The rhythm-based system emphasizes timing, precision, and coordination, delivering an emotional and immersive experience to honor her legacy and promote awareness.

The "Yong Le" Series

The Yong Le series carries a dual meaning: yong refers to swimming in Chinese and also symbolizes eternity, while le means happiness. This series consists of two HTML5 mini-games that merge casual gameplay with personalized idol elements, Created as a gift for a friend. The first game, Idol Match-3, is a tile-matching game featuring Chinese swimming team athletes, and the second, Defeat the Ocean Beasts, is a classic vertical shooter incorporating swimming-themed elements.

I took on the dual role of game designer and developer, managing the entire process from concept to implementation. This included character design, UI layout, game logic, and optimization.
